Wait… Are you straight?

Since the time I started blogging, there have been many significant changes in my thought patterns and my general adaptation to some “queer” things around me. I guessed this is the right time for me to finally write about something that has been plaguing my mind since I had a considerable amount of knowledge of the world around me. I anyone guessed the topic of this post as one that talks about Homosexual people, you were right. I don’t want to use the term GAY as it has been cliched more than quite a few times and because I have some principles that I wish to follow.

Upto this point in my life, I have come across a wide variety of people. Some I liked, some others I hated and some others that I wondered about. Most of these people that I have referred to here are considered by many to be normal or straight. And when these apparently normal people are broached with the topic that has always sparked some heated discussions – homosexuality, their reaction has been nothing short of uncontrollable disgust. Is it wrong that these people react this way about the queer folk? It most definitely is!

Same sex is a taboo?

Same sex is a taboo?

Homosexual people are as normal and deserving as any of us other normal people can be. They choose their partner to be of the same sex. This can be due to various reasons. But I am not here to conduct a lavish research on why people tend to be homosexual. You may ask; but isn’t this kind of behaviour wrong? Apparently to most of us, it is. But why we tend to think this way is no big mystery to conduct another well funded research about. I will reveal the reason in just a little while; please bear with me until then. You may ask me how I can say so much about these queer folk and even go to the extent of arguing on their side. Don’t worry, I did not accept any money from them to do this nor did anyone offer me some. I know a couple of these queer folk enough that I can vouch for them. One of them, I know personally. The other I got to know through the glorious blogosphere.

Now I come back to the reason for our non-acceptance of these queer folk into out normal society. It is simple. Why did the other ducks react negatively towards “The Ugly Duckling”? Just because it was the odd one out. This rejection of odd ones from the “pack” happens almost everywhere in our daily life. Let me show you some examples:

  • Intelligent people rejecting the less intelligent and more stupid ones.
  • People speaking the same language rejecting the one who doesn’t.
  • Alien people who have travelled far from their native places for various reasons being rejected by the locals.
The Ugly Duckling.

The Ugly Duckling.

These are only some isolated examples. There are many many more. Why they didn’t gain this much popularity is because of this one’s close relation to SEX. Now as the post draws to a close, I wish to convey the following message to all my readers.

Though these people are considered to be freaks of nature and hated to the extent of condemning them wherever they go, they are as normal and self-realizing people as any of us straight ones.

PS: Negative comments which are written for the sake of discussion are welcome. Other bad-mouthing ones will be deleted mercilessly.

PPS: I wrote this post thinking that homosexual people don’t like to be referred as gay. My humble apologies if I have offended any of you by referring to you as queer.
