Nice blog. You are appointed!

Recently, one of my brother’s old friends had come home for lunch. The angel conveyed a news to me saying that many companies are recruiting candidates by studying their blogs. Now don’t start cleaning your ears. 😀 It is a fact. Presently, a Human Resource manager in a firm I am not willing to disclose, Ms.Suvidha sent me a mail containing a power-point presentation. To my utmost surprise, I came to know how the candidates are recruited through their blogs.

Innovative recruitment practices

Even though the presentation did not look very formal, I have confirmed that this technique is very much in use nowadays. This came as a huge break to me as I am a guy who believes only people with talent should be given work and not people who learn the text books by-heart. I have said more than enough about this in one of my earliest posts. If anyone decided it would be good enough to go through, it was Academic Qualification.

Now I can sleep peacefully knowing that my talents will be valued more than my marks. The guy who came up with this concept is a genius! 🙂 All hail the blog-recruiters! 😀

PS: Why I called her an angel was because this news was one of the best I have ever recieved. It made me feel I won’t be ignored just because I didn’t secure enough marks in the exams.

    This is easily the most hilarious thing I have heard about, today .. I’ll probably hire someone to write serious meaningful posts on my blog

    @arvind
    I was skeptical at first too. Laughed about it in fact. But then, when she mentioned that you can include the link to your blog in your resume, I was open-jawed.

    @Avionic spanker
    Welcome to my blog! 🙂 Glad I made someone laugh… Believe me, I have tried very much; and today I have succeeded. But about the news; I was not joking. SU – my best friend, was present when this exchange took place. Still think I am mad? Thanks! 😀 But take a look at this link.

    Hey guys…..

    Back after a small break……..

    Infact, I agree with anniyan on the fact that Blogs are the talk of the HR town. This is something which is really surprising to me too.

    But nevertheless, hiring someone to do the same work does not really proove your talent. Hence, alteast in that aspect it goes a lot to say that writing your own Blog really pays….

    wow, isnt that news or what !!! Thanks buddy.

    @ Arvind : You could try adding your blog link to your emails as a signature; you never know what would happen !!

    this is a good news for sure! as with all new things, this too has its pros and cons. The blogs will no longer be a natural flow of expressions and they will be a just another way to impress the HRs. I agree that you cannot have an idea about the mentality of the HR, but a general overview of the HR thinktank can be unearthed with a few years of experience. Secondly, what will happen to people who cannot/don’t want to blog? If its just anther matter to be considered while recruitment, then its fine as long as they dont give it a considerable importance… then, Bloggers will have to deal with lots of Online “SOFT” junk…

    @Anniyan:
    I wonder how they filter true blogs. I mean, I can hire someone to write up stuff for me to just get a job. And what kind of job are they hiring you for? Blogging again? – That would be great! 😀

    Having said that, this kind of recruiting is definitely good for the companies. They are 90% sure to get a truly talented person this way. 🙂

    @mystiquedew:
    Good marks is only to get you into the arena. Your fight depends upon your talent alone. 🙂

    Good to have you back! 🙂 I think I should have mentioned that we can include our blog in our resume.

    @vimal
    Always glad to help. 😀

    @SU
    Obviously it wouldn’t be the ONLY criteria for recruitment. It would be one of the methods used to filter out the better ones. And no need to worry about junk. 🙂 Akismet rules! 😀 🙂

    @Dinesh Babu
    Yes it is. Its wonderful news that blogs are the “in” thing. 🙂

    @smallstar
    Thank you. 🙂

    @mystiquedew
    They get dumped? 😀 Let them undergo what we did for such a long time! 😀 😛

    @Manoj
    Good point. 🙂 It would be AWESOME if we were recruited for blogging again. 😀 And of course, they can surely find what they are looking for over here.

    @Anniyan : I didn’t mean spam comments by ‘Junk’. i referred to those blogs which are apparently filled with alphabets which may(not) make sense. All this for the sake of having blog would be a thorn in flesh for those who consider blogging as a passion.

    @SU
    Oh! I did not look at it that way. Now that you mention it, I think wordpress will be more than happy to host all these blogs. 🙂 More blogs, more money. 🙂

    @Dinesh Babu
    I have too. 🙂

    Ah! Now that’s a nice coincidence. 😀 Anniyan is a movie in Tamil which portrayed the concept of multiple personality disorder. And oh yeah! Welcome to Care to take a look?

    @Oxy
    Maybe if the HR is a girl and she goes through your “Impressing Fairer sex” post, she might offer you to take her on a date 😀 .

    @Nikhil
    Definitely not Micrisoft 😀 .

    @Kris
    Don’t you worry. It’s pretty good now itself. And welcome to Care to take a look? 😀
